#2 Celebration and Sunset Serenades Summer Concerts
Howard County Executive Ken Ulman invites residents 2 celebrate Columbia/Ellicott City’s #2 ranking on Money Magazine’s “Best Places to Live in America” 2010 list at the Sunset Serenade concert on Wednesday, July 28 in Centennial Park off Route 108, a mid-way point between the winning locations. The night will feature light-hearted fun, really cool giveaways (like Nestle-Dreyer’s ice cream) and a hot concert featuring soul, funk and pop by the Eric Scott Band. So bring a blanket or lawn chair, a picnic supper, rent a canoe or paddleboat, and enjoy a performance in the park. While this event is free, a $3 parking donation is requested. County Executive Ulman's Open Public Forum
Howard County Executive Ken Ulman invites residents to join him for his fourth annual public forum where residents will have an opportunity to ask him questions, make comments or offer suggestions on any topic they choose. Executive Ulman will be joined by County department heads for this important public dialogue. Residents who wish to speak will be asked to sign up before the event and limit their questions or comments to two minutes.

Senior Day at the Fair
The Office on Aging is please to present “Senior Day” at this year’s Howard County Fair. Visit the Office on Aging in the Fairgrounds Activities Building to: learn about Healthy Aging programs, with information exhibits and demonstrations; meet Office on Aging staff and ask questions; and enjoy all day entertainment, giveaways, bingo, games and prizes. Admission is free all day for adults age 62 and older.

"Volunteer of Year" Ceremony
Join Howard County Executive Ken Ulman and the County Council as they host a ceremony and reception to honor nominees for the 2010 Howard County "Volunteer of the Year" awards program. Sponsored by Howard County Government and the Volunteer Center Serving Howard County, this program recognizes individuals (youth and adults), groups or businesses that have demonstrated commitment and dedication to our community. The Great Snipe Hunt
Parents and kids, come gather round the campfire to feast on s'mores and make a craft while preparing for the Great Snipe Hunt. Take a wagon ride and hear a story about the infamous, hard-to-catch "Howard County Snipe," the largest of the snipe species. Then venture into the woods in search of this elusive creature. Bring a large brown paper bag and flashlight for this catch-and-release event. Sponosored in part by the Elkridge Adult Athletic Association. Event designed for ages 4-7 and their parents, however, older siblings are welcome.
